Discovery Preschool

Programming for 2 1/2 (Introductory), 3's, 4's, & Young 5's

​The preschool phase, spanning from 2 1/2 to 5 years old, is characterized by active movement, an abundance of questions, the development of social and emotional skills, and the formation of friendships. Research indicates that optimal early learning experiences occur through play. Embracing the Project Approach, our program empowers children to contribute to the classroom by expressing their knowledge, sharing home experiences, fueled by boundless curiosity and evolving interests. Our curriculum adapts dynamically, shaped by the vibrant community of children we serve, resulting in a distinct experience each year. Through the profound reflections of children and thoughtful planning by teachers, every day becomes a joyful journey of engaged learning!

The Buds group is a small group that is just beginning to learn how Discovery Play works. They are introduced to circle time, basic concepts, and have plenty of playful learning opportunities.

​3 years
​blossoms

Blossoms are our growing Discovery Preschoolers. This group is learning about themselves and how to socialize within a classroom while developing skills essential to lifelong learning.

4 & 5 years
Gardeners

Gardeners are our Discovery Pre-Kindergartners. These children are our "thinkers". Their thoughts and ideas are reflected in our learning and classroom community. Children in this group use inquiry as a catalyst to drive our free flowing curriculum.

Our classrooms are designed to be the third teacher. Each classroom offers unique learning opportunities that align to developmental areas: math/science, social, creative arts, motor skills, and emotional growth. "Discovery Play" refer to the daily opportunities our children experience when discovering the carefully planned center areas in either the Art-Dramatic Play-Music room or the Science and Math room.
